Highly entertaining. …and I was prepared NOT to like this movie after hearing some of the pre-release banter: Like here’s another predictable, overused kidnap/ransom/rescue movie. Ugh! At the 2:13 runtime it also teetered on tipping my narrowly based attention span for watching a movie in one sitting. Not to mention Spike’s famous (or infamous) double dolly shots, repetitive dialogue and over dramatic score. (Oops. I guess I did mention all that after all.) Well… save for a smidge of the overpowering score; this movie did have a refreshing twist on the kidnapping plot, captured a very picturesque portrait of New York, New York (sans the dolly) and sprinkled in some friend and family values. Definitely not his Highest nor Lowest movie making. Good not Great but interesting and worth the watch. Don’t ‘run out’ and get a subscription of Apple TV+ though. A discount matinee will do ya just fine.
