Normal aging and years of recreational sports are wearing on my joints; especially my knees. Better than any pain relief I’ve tried is my daily dose of collagen. I can feel a difference in mobility, strength and faster recovery since I’ve added Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Power to my routine. Click my Associates link above to see and purchase on Amazon.

  • My only adult child can be a problem child. Continuously finding himself in unnecessary situations from which I’ve more often than not, helped extricate him. On some level I feel responsible for him not growing up to be a fully responsible, successful, self-sustaining human being. So I continue to dispense Band-Aids after one scrape or another.

Most recently, I loaned him a chunk of money. I say a chunk because I depend on my Social Security and part time job to live. Any large expense can become a burden. We set up a mutually agreed upon repayment schedule of $40 to $50 weekly. I’m lenient though and accept less or missed payments because I know he’s struggling; but trying.

Yesterday he sent me a $40 Zelle payment and I texted to thank him. ‘No, Thank YOU Mom’, he replied. I went to sleep feeling good about him and our arrangement. Early this morning I was awoken to his text asking for $25 back. Didn’t he KNOW yesterday that he couldn’t afford to send me his full payment? Yes, rhetorical question. Better question: Why was I surprised? This has become his repayment modus operandi. Give some and take a little back. I’ve come to expect it and usually I’m waiting, anticipating him to renege.

It’s finally dawned on me that this is a form of mental manipulation. He’s been pretty good at that over the years. Would I accept this kind of behavior from anyone else in the world? Unconditional love is a powerful thing.

  • Highly entertaining. …and I was prepared NOT to like this movie after hearing some of the pre-release banter: Like here’s another predictable, overused kidnap/ransom/rescue movie. Ugh! At the 2:13 runtime it also teetered on tipping my narrowly based attention span for watching a movie in one sitting. Not to mention Spike’s famous (or infamous) double dolly shots, repetitive dialogue and over dramatic score. (Oops. I guess I did mention all that after all.) Well… save for a smidge of the overpowering score; this movie did have a refreshing twist on the kidnapping plot, captured a very picturesque portrait of New York, New York (sans the dolly) and sprinkled in some friend and family values. Definitely not his Highest nor Lowest movie making. Good not Great but interesting and worth the watch. Don’t ‘run out’ and get a subscription of Apple TV+ though. A discount matinee will do ya just fine.

If you perspire heavily during exercise, work or recreational sports like I do and have problems with muscle cramps, turmeric may help you. Better than the mustard packs or pickle juice I used to take years ago on the tennis court for body cramps. I’ve added this to my work/work out regimen and don’t worry about my body failing me anymore. I order these easy to take turmeric capsules with subscribe and save so I always have them on hand.

  • 20 years later, two documentaries take sobering looks at Hurricane Katrina. Ryan Coogler (Black Panther Director) serves as Executive Producer for the 5 part National Geographic series ‘Hurricane Katrina, Race Against Time’, while Spike Lee serves as Executive Producer and Director for the 3 part Netflix series ‘Katrina, Come Hell and High Water. I watched the Nat Geo series first. It gives a complete, gut wrenching account of events prior to, during and after Katrina devastated New Orleans. The Netflix series encapsulates the storm and immediate aftermath in the first two episodes, while expanding on the long term effects for the people in episode 3. Both series are eye-opening, shocking and shine a bright light on an ugly reality that many Americans may not be aware of. If you’re looking for something worthwhile to binge… You’ve found it.

  • Like the young people say nowadays ‘it’s just not clocking with me’. Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate receiving a warm, friendly meme, positive text message or Facebook post as much as the next person.

I realize most of these are sent with sincere, thoughtful intentions. What I don’t understand is why it’s necessary to send 2, 3, 4 or more memes or reels at one time or a meme or text EVERY DAY of the week. I would expect that from a loved one, close family member, husband or boyfriend. But it strikes me weird getting constant multiple memes from an acquaintance or casual friend. Frankly, if you’re a good friend of mine, I’d appreciate it ten times more if you ‘liked’ my YouTube videos and helped me make some money.

This is tough for me because I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings and I honestly don’t know how to talk to people about it. When I receive a daily meme like clockwork, it gives me of sense of obligation or doing something ‘by rote’… or I’m just gonna send this to ALL my friends on the list. It doesn’t make me feel very special at all. I would rather receive a written message from you every now and then letting me know you’re thinking about me. I don’t want to see a ‘funny’ reel of some guy getting attacked by a bear. …What do I care?

  • Eddington 2025

Missed this in the theater. Probably should have waited a few months ’til it was streaming for free… but it’s my boy, Joaquin so I can’t be too mad. If you’re triggered by remembering the pandemic and all the events happening in 2020, don’t watch this movie. It’s dark, moody, preachy, symbolic and not everyone’s idea of entertainment. One of those deeper meaning movies… so I understand why the ‘A Listers’ signed up for it.
